And no, there aren't reasonable alternatives to this software for the work I do at the price I do it for. I have no intent to distribute the software, I just don't want to live in fear of this tiny expensive dongle failing and taking my business down with it. I want to find somebody who can help me bypass the dongle for my peace of mind.
The software still works fine, but I live in fear that the dongle will fail, get broken, lost or stolen.
They are using it in-house and effectively blocking the competition from using what's now their software to compete against them. However the company that made it sold the software to another company which in turn stopped developing, supporting or even selling the software. I own some software legally, as in paid full price for it, and it cost as much as a luxury car.
